New Traeger Woodridge and Westwood wood pellet grills on display in the ANC Heating and Air Conditioning showroom in Endicott NY

Traeger's 2026 Lineup Changed the Math: Westwood, Woodridge, and the New Flat Tops

Lloyd Knecht September 16, 2026 7 min read

For a few years there, buying a Traeger started to feel like buying a second refrigerator. The flagship models crept past $3,000 and kept going, and while those grills genuinely are remarkable machines, most people in the Southern Tier do not want to spend that on something that lives on the back deck.

We said so, loudly and repeatedly, and so did dealers and customers across the country. Traeger listened. The 2026 lineup brings serious wood-fired cooking back under a thousand dollars, adds a proper flat top griddle family, and does it without cutting the quality that made people fall for these grills in the first place.

As the only Platinum rated Traeger dealer in the Greater Binghamton area, we get this product early and we cook on all of it. Here is an honest look at what is new, who each model suits, and how to pick without overbuying.

The Price Reset Is Real

The headline is simple. The core of the new lineup sits in the $699 to $799 range, which is roughly what a good pellet grill cost before the arms race started. Pricing shifts with promotions, so confirm the current number with us before you plan around it, but the direction is clear and it is the right one.

Worth saying plainly: a $799 Traeger cooks the same brisket as a $3,000 Traeger. The premium models add capacity, insulation, and convenience features that serious cooks appreciate. They do not add flavor. If you have been waiting on the sidelines because the entry point felt absurd, this is your year.

Westwood and Westwood XL

The Westwood is the straightforward one, and for a lot of families it is the right answer. You get reliable temperature control, the WiFIRE app for monitoring a long cook from inside the house, and enough grate space for a normal weekend.

The XL version is the same grill with more room. If you routinely cook for a crowd, run two racks of ribs at once, or host the postgame gathering after Friday night football, take the larger footprint. Nobody has ever regretted extra grate space in October. Our tailgate recipes and rigs for Southern Tier football Saturdays will give you a sense of what fits on each size.

Woodridge and Woodridge Elite

The Woodridge line sits alongside the Westwood and frequently runs on promotion in the same price range. The step up worth understanding is the Woodridge Elite.

The Elite adds soft-closing bottom drawers, which sounds like a luxury until you are storing pellets, rubs, and tools somewhere other than the garage. More importantly, it adds a side burner. That single addition changes what the grill can do, because you can sear, saute, or simmer alongside whatever is smoking on the main grates. Finishing a sauce, crisping a cast iron sear on a reverse-seared steak, or holding a pot of beans no longer requires a trip back to the kitchen.

If you already own a Traeger and you are wondering whether an upgrade is worth it, the side burner is usually the feature that decides it.

The New Flat Tops Are the Real Surprise

Traeger now makes flat top griddles in two-burner and four-burner configurations, and they have been moving fast off our floor. This is a different kind of cooking than a pellet grill and it fills a real gap.

Flat tops are for the things a grate does badly. Smash burgers with a proper crust. Breakfast for eight on a Sunday. Fried rice, fajitas, cheesesteaks, anything with onions and peppers that would fall through grates. The two-burner suits a smaller patio and a family of four. The four-burner is for people who feed a crowd and want zones running at different temperatures at the same time.

A tip from experience: seasoning a griddle correctly at the start determines how it cooks for years. We stock the seasoning products and the griddle-specific cleaners, and they make the difference between a surface that improves with use and one that fights you. Ask us to walk you through the process when you pick one up.

What Platinum Dealer Status Actually Gets You

Anyone can sell you a box. The reason to buy your grill from a dedicated dealer shows up in the months afterward.

We carry the full accessory wall: rubs, sauces, pellets, covers, tools, and griddle supplies. The Meat Church line has been the standout this year, and the Cola Barbecue sauce has sold through more than a dozen cases. Meat Church pellets are now in stock as well, and Traeger finally brought back Whiskey Dust after a long absence, which is a rub worth keeping on hand.

We also do not sell competing grill brands. Everyone in the building cooks on Traegers at home, which means when you call with a question about pellet feed, temperature swing, or how to hold a butt overnight, you are talking to someone who has actually done it. New owners should start with our beginner's guide to cooking on a Traeger, then work up to choosing between low and slow and hot and fast.

One more thing that surprises people: Gold Eagle members receive 10% off showroom items, and that includes rubs, pellets, and accessories. If you are already a member for your heating and cooling, you have been leaving money on the counter.

Which One Should You Buy?

  • First pellet grill, normal family: Westwood or Woodridge in the $699 to $799 range
  • You host, tailgate, or cook for a crowd: Westwood XL
  • You want a side burner and better storage: Woodridge Elite
  • Breakfast, burgers, and weeknight speed: a two or four-burner flat top, often alongside a pellet grill rather than instead of one
  • Maximum capacity and features: the Timberline line, which we covered in detail in our Timberline review
